A feral cat trap designed on the Eyre Peninsula is helping bring back native animals to the Venus Bay conservation park. The trap, which shoots the cat with a poisonous gel and is then licked off, was designed by ecologist Dr John Read from Secret Rocks, near Kimba. It’s still in the research and development phase, but is being trialled in a few national conservation parks, like the one at Venus Bay. Brooke Neindorf caught up with Liz McTaggert and Tayla Bowden from the Eyre Peninsula Natural Resources Management board about how the trap works in the park and how effective it has been.
